Lesser Line Tap
Range: 0 | Components: V, S
Duration: Special | Casting Time: 1 turn
Area of Effect: 10 ft. | Saving throw: N/A |
When this spell is cast, the spellcaster is attuning to the power of a small ley line. If no ley line is within the area of effect the spell fails to attune the caster a ley line, but does give the caster the impression of in what direction and how far away the nearest ley line is.
If the spell successfully attunes the spellcaster to a small ley line, the caster may draw one spell point worth of power per spell cast to help power his spells. If the ley line was of greater size the spell fails and the caster suffers 2d6 points worth of damage.
There is also one additional danger. If the caster exhausts all of his spell points and is still attuned to the ley line, the ley line surges and the caster suffers 6d6 points worth of damage, and is knocked unconscious of 4d10 + 12 rounds.
A typical small ley line has flowing within it 3d4 points worth of power. If all the points are used, the ley line fades out of existence until it starts to replenish itself. A typical small ley line replenishes itself at a rate of 1 point per hour. A small ley line that has been emptied, will start to replenish itself in 1d3 hours.
